1984 Gibson SG Standard
1984 Gibson SG Standard
This is my most recent guitar acquisition. I traded my younger brother Dennis one of my Les Pauls for it. I have really fallen in love with this guitar as it is extremely easy to play and sounds great. I'd never owned an SG prior to this so this is new territory for me. I've used it on a couple of tunes already including Closet Funk.
I don't know much about this guy even after a search of the Internet which had not yet come into existence in 1984 (probably why there's not much info out there). The color is called tobacco sunburst. It has Gibson Deluxe tuners, and I've read that the pickups were designed by Tim Shaw. The body is solid mahogany and the neck is rosewood. The headstock is adorned with the holly bush (or crown or frog depending on who you ask). There is a strap lock type thingy on the back which I think is original as my brother was not into modding his guitars. The truss rod cover simply says SG. The jack is located on the side near the controls which is a change from earlier models. The neck inlays are the block type.
If you have additional info on this model please email me at the address below. Thanks!
